The Tamil Study Centre, Homebush is an independent language school with the vision of encouraging Tamil children to understand, maintain and foster their language,
culture and tradition in a multi-cultural environment in Australia. The Study Centre caters for students from Pre-school to Year 12. The Tamil Study Centre aims to provide every child in the Tamil Community with the opportunity to:
▪ learn the Tamil language
▪ understand and appreciate the Tamil culture and
▪ develop an understanding of Tamil tradition and values.
Each year a number of students at Homebush Boys High School study Tamil at the Study Centre, completing Preliminary and HSC courses in Tamil. These courses count towards NESA requirements for both Preliminary and HSC courses. Additionally, the Tamil Study Centre provides opportunities for students who are excelling in the study of Tamil to study at an accelerated pace, thereby completing Preliminary Tamil when in Year 10 and completing the HSC Tamil when in Year 11.
Currently there are approximately 300 students studying at the Tamil Study Centre, Homebush.
