Inclusive Education
The Inclusive Education faculty at Homebush Boys High School opened in 2021, with the establishment of 3 classes that cater for students on the autism spectrum. This has grown to 5 classes in 2024, with a total of 35 students enrolled.
Each class consists of approximately 7 students, a class teacher, and a School Learning Support Officer (SLSO). There is a strong focus on explicit instruction, high expectations and student wellbeing. Smaller class sizes and staff to student ratios, help to provide a learning environment that is catered to individual need.
Every student has an Individual Education Plan (IEP). This is a process created with all relevant stakeholders, to attain the best educational outcomes for students.
Key Learning Areas studied include English, Mathematics, Science, HSIE (History and Geography), PDHPE, Visual Arts, Music, TAS (Food Technology and Industrial Arts) and Literacy. Students also participate in school sport each week.
Delivering high quality educational programs that strive to prepare students for life after school, makes Homebush Boys proud of it’s inclusive culture amongst students, staff, parents and the wider-school community.
